Dustin was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. During his high school years, football was his passion. The highlight of his high school years was winning a National Championship as a member of Team Alberta and being named Defensive MVP of the tournament. Dustin then played four years of football for the Okanagan Sun in British Columbia earning two Conference All-star awards.
Dustin then turned his attention to education and began a Business degree in his home town of Lethbridge. His business degree had a requisite Business Law course. It was all history from there as Dustin knew that he had found his calling. Dustin attended law school at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Since being called to the bar as a member of the Law Society of Alberta Dustin has zealously advocated for his clients at all levels of court in Alberta. Dustin has extensive Family/Divorce law experience, as well as a background in civil litigation.
Dustin makes the move to join Spectrum Family Law to be closer to family, with his Sister, Brother-in-law, and only two nieces already residing in Edmonton. Dustin has been caught off guard by how much he enjoys being an Uncle and he is looking forward to being closer to his nieces.
When not advocating for his clients, Dustin enjoys Squash, futsal or indoor soccer, disc golf, the NFL, and fine dining.
Launa Schey, Family Lawyer
Originally from Saskatchewan, Launa began her post-secondary education in the field of psychology, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) before continuing on to law school. Launa graduated from the University of Alberta faculty of law in 2003 and has been a practicing member of the Law Society of Alberta since 2004.
Launa’s passion for law stems from her overall goal of helping people. Whether it is helping her clients to close on their real estate transaction or make plans for the future by drafting wills and powers of attorney, Launa has the knowledge and experience to help individuals with all their contract related needs. No stranger to the Court house, Launa has also represented clients in all levels of the Alberta Courts with regard to both civil lawsuits and family law matters such as divorce, child custody and access, child and spousal support, property division, guardianship, and paternity. Launa’s breadth of experience enables her to provide comprehensive legal advice on all the issues her clients face while also being adept at negotiation and strategy in litigation to get the best results possible.
When not practicing law, Launa enjoys spending time with her family and taking in the arts and festivals throughout the city.
Originally from British Columbia, Manroop Chatha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia. She worked in the private and public sectors before attending law school. Manroop graduated from the faculty of law at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. After completing law school, Manroop went on to join a law firm in Delta, BC, focusing on family law. She is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and is happy to call Calgary home.
Manroop practices in the area of family law. Family law can have monumental outcomes for clients, so Manroop’s legal philosophy is guided by resolving legal matters in a sensible and efficient manner. She can counsel clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives, whether it’s matters of parenting time and access, property division, child support, spousal support, and more.
Outside the office, Manroop enjoys traveling, practicing mindfulness, and trying new restaurants in the city.
Kristin Smith, Family Lawyer
Kristin was born and raised in Calgary, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts (with distinction, majoring in Psychology), from the University of Calgary. Kristin attended law school at the University of Alberta, where she was actively involved in the community with both the Law Students Association and Student Legal Services.
Kristin was called to the Alberta Bar in 2020. She has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench. Kristin strives to provide strong advocacy and sound legal advice to her clients while guiding them through their family law matters. She recognizes that clients often come to her experiencing significant personal and financial hardship and has developed a practice that takes an empathetic and practical approach while seeking client-centered, cost-effective solutions.
In her spare time, Kristin can be found at the dog park with her best friend Archie, on the golf course, or trying out new restaurants. Kristin volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance in an effort to promote access to justice amongst society’s most vulnerable.
